"I'm late, I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date!"

- Alice in Wonderland

---

I've been inspired to work again and do something fun. I hope you all enjoy looking at it! Comments and Critiques welcome, although the scan isn't great. My version of what Alice would look like. Not the stereotypical blue/white dress. Hope that's alright :aww:

Took about 25 hours from start to finish. Watercolor painting on hot press :)

the drawing can be seen here:

A beautifully adventurous and energetic exploration of classic material; fantastically accomplished, from overall composition to every minute gesture and detail...

David, I was already impressed by your incredible drawing ... and man, your painting needs a wall to be hang up and be shown to other people. For this time I will enjoy this virtual wall!

The first thing I noticed were the colors. Yes, Alice in Wonderland comes with a lot of fantastic colors and you managed to use them with a good eye. There are a lot of them but no overdose. Your Alice is looking as if she is absorbed in thought - I like this look and especially the quality you painted her! And man, your composition is great. It perfectly combines with little Alice who seems to think about her choice - following the rabbit, hearing of what the cat is saying ... what will she do?

It's a great and wonderful painting! You're leaving growing footprints, David!

I like the details - and I just love the caterpillar!

I like the composition of all the elements in one painting, but I thing there is too much details, not the figures in specifics, but also the leaves, the roses, it makes it too restless, and makes the figures fall a bit to the back instead of bringing them up front (o, boy I hope I wrote it in the right way ), but that's my opinion.

Very nice work..

Heard Tim Burton was doing a movie...be warned.

She's there, but she's not with them. She feels so unattached with everyone. I personally, like the fact that the details details doesn't create a focus point and leaves us with tension. And tranquil little Alice absorbs from us what she can, but leaves the eye again to go roaming.

well done :)

Interesting point of view, I can completely understand what you mean and like that idea, too. :) I tried to make her a little more "scared" or for a lack of better words, not so bubbly. I had the idea to make it more of a collage, like you said. Thank you again for the awesome comment :)
